About Casting Assistant Software
This website’s purpose is to provide functional details concerning the Casting Assistant software and technical support. The Casting Assistant was originally designed as a simple Talent photo database for Unique Casting in Miami, back in 1998 (running on Windows 3.1 PC’s). Some time in 2000 the product was re-launched as a fully functional digital video & photo capture database tool specifically designed for the Casting Industry. The product ran on MS Windows 95 PC’s and captured video & photos via Analog devices. The product has continued to evolve over the years with the addition of many new features and capabilities (including DV capture via Firewire, automatic Internet HTML created web content and uploading, emailing & PDF video logs, and DVD output, etc.). The Casting Assistant is more than a technology tool. It is also a fully functional office productivity tool. It includes numerous reporting, sorting and retrieval functions that assist the office staff with pre and post casting administrative procedures and can integrate with ‘LA Casting’ data. Input from various casting studios (in Miami, LA and Mexico) continue to shape the product’s look, feel, and workflow. The Casting Assistant remains a PC based software product, but now is capable of running on Dual-core Mac computers with NT installed. It also captures and creates mov Quicktime output directly so that both Mac and PC users may review the casting results without hardware concerns.
The Casting Assistant is completely re-evaluated and re-designed each winter to include the latest coming technologies (such as built-in ‘Live-Stream’ casting over the Internet, IPod output, and RSS feeds). For a detailed list of enhancements see the ‘Fix List’ on the ‘Upgrade’ page.
